This week the dream became a reality. I will purchase the tickets for the first half of my journey. There is no turning back now, the train is on the track.

The things I have to look forward to in the coming weeks:
1. Giving my employer 3 months notice
2. Applying for visas
3. Firming up my rough itinerary
4. Selling/finding new homes for stuff
5. Packing
6. Setting up bank stuff
7. Get this blog live

This blog is dedicated to all my family and friends who have supported my decision to take a year off to travel the world.  Herein I will chronicle my thoughts and experiences as I can. I encourage you, dear reader, to post comments as to your thoughts and what things you might like to experience through my travels.

First Preparations
As 2012 is in full swing I find myself excited and terrified at the adventure that awaits me.  I have much to do before I begin my travels though the journey itself began long ago.  In the past year I have downsized, moved from a 4-bedroom house to a 2-bedroom apartment, experienced the departure of my loved pet, watched my children grow into adulthood, lost two dear Godparents, become paperless, and delighted in researching my future travel plans.

Final Preparations
This online journal is the first step toward in my final preparations and I intend to  have at least one posting weekly to keep everyone up to date as to my progress.
